Pre Conference Tours

Experience Taranaki by participating in one of the following mini pre-conferece tours on Tuesday afternoon.  All groups will depart from the conference venue at 3.00pm. Each pre-conference tour will return to New Plymouth at various times from 5.00pm.

Taranaki Termal Spa  $40.00 per person

Taranaki Termal Spa incorporates the historic Tarawhata Mineral Baths.  The Bonithon Spa Health Co has re-opened artesian mineral well, transforming it into a modern healing waters facility with 29,000 year-old water.  Taranaki Thermal Spa also offers bodywork, beauty treatments, a sauna and a boutique organic hair studio.  For your pleasure and after a day of travelling, we have arranged for a soak in the mineral pool and then a foot and hand massage.  Ensure that you bring along your own swim wear.  Towels will be provided.

Art Galleries & Museum Walkabout  $26.00 per person

This will be a guided walkabout in the central hub of New Plymouth visiting galleries and the museum.  Make sure that you have comfortable walking shoes and your credit card particularly if you are interested in purchasing somthing local to our region.  Once your walkabout is over, at your last destination you will be provided with a light refreshment and a wine at the Puke Ariki cafe/restaurant Arborio.

Chaddy's Charters  $40.00 per person

Enjoy the thrill and excitement of launching from the boat shed on rails in Chaddy's Liverpool Class C Lifeboat.  Visit the seals, learn the history of the area and catch a fish along the way.  This is a one hour cruise then you can visit the Paua Pearl Factory where you can look at the most exquisite jewellery.  You can also nip into one of th nearby cafes for a quick coffee or a wine (this is at your own expense).  Bring warm clothing and suitable footwear.

 

Post Conference Tours

Extend your stay in Taranaki and enjoy a Saturday excursion with one of the following Tours:

Garden Tour  $80.00 per person

If gardens are your thing then you've come to the right place! Home of the internationally famous Taranaki Rhododendron and Garden Show. Join us by coach to visit three of the most well known gardens of this popular event:

Pukekura Park is a well known icon of New Plymouth and a must see for any visitor. It has a large collection of both native and exotic trees and can literally take hours to discover the many hidden gardens. A local guide will be onboard to ensure you catch the highlights of the Park.

From there we will head out of New Plymouth on Surf Highway 45 to Oakura to see Ngamamaku. This beautiful garden is owned and run by Tony Barnes & John Sole who will show us the delights of this mixture of natural native bush and formal gardens along with the Japanese Garden.

After Ngamamaku, it's on to the jewel in the crown... Pukeiti is New Zealand's premier rhododendron garden set in magnificent rainforest on the lower slopes of Mount Taranaki. Enjoy more than 10,000 rhododendrons & azaleas in a unique setting of lush native bush full of ferns, mountain streams and alive with birds. Drifts of primulas, hostas, bluebells & the world renowned vireya collection are just part of the scene which provides all year interest.

Wine, Beer and Food Tour  $80.00 per person

If gardens aren't your thing then lets hit the road for a bit of wine, beer and food tasting. Taranaki has some outstanding spots to delight your senses.

We'll head first by coach to the Whitecliffs Estate, home of Mike's Organic Ales, where we can unwind with some beer and food tastings while relaxing on the deck of their 19th century building which is set in a lush avocado orchard. While we are there we will also be treated to a tour of the brewery.

After Mike's we will head to the nearby Waiau Estate to sample their offerings of wine and matching food morsels. The beautiful Waiau Estate is the epitome of style and class, the perfect place to swan around being fabulous while you enjoy beautiful surroundings.

And then the piece de resistance, Okurukuru. This stunning venue is perched precariously on Taranaki's coast line. With awe inspiring sea and mountain views, this is truly one of the must see spots of the region. While we take photos and revel in the panoramic views, we will taste a selection of gorgeous wines. We'll round off the afternoon with something sweet and a coffee. The perfect ending to a perfect tour!

Tawhiti Museum  $80.00 per person

The Tawhiti Museum is a truly unique enterprise.  The creation of artist Nigel Ogle, its attention to detail is simplying stunning.  Widely acclaimed as the best private museum in the country, the museum uses life size exhibits and scale models to present our heritage in a series of super realistic and engaging displays.  All these displays are designed and built on the premises in the 'Body Shop' and accompanying studios, which can be viewed as part of the museum visit. 

You will be transported from New Plymouth to Hawera to the museum (50 minute drive) to spend time looking around this amazing museum.  This tour will take in other areas of interest in the South Taranaki area before returning to New Plymouth.
