Ako Panuku couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate theme for their Hui a-Tau 100% virtual event.
Ako Panuku is a Ministry of Education funded programme designed by Māori for Māori. The aim is to enhance Māori language proficiency in the classroom.
Secondary Māori teachers and wharekura teachers can draw on support in regional and national communities, with the availability of resources, career development, planning tools and workshops.
The 100% Virtual Event
Usually, the event is a 2-day in-person affair, limited to 100 kaiako (registrants). But the recent pandemic made our client think about how our personal and working lives are changing. They decided that with challenges come opportunities, and this pandemic was a chance for a new way of working to arise. And did they do just that!
From the start, Ako Panuku planned their 2020 Hui ā-Tau as a 100% virtual event.
With the event now accessible to an astonishing 426 registrants with 43 speakers and 57 sessions on the Hōtaka (agenda), the one-day event had 3 concurrent streams running all day.
If you think that would overwhelm delegates, you’re wrong. The customised ACE Event App made it very easy to customise the attendant’s personal experience. All it required was to add a presentation to their personal agenda with a simple click on the ‘+’.
But the app not only hosts the virtual event. At the same time, delegates used it as a networking tool.
Delegates could easily check out the kaihoko (exhibitors) in the Hui ā-Tau app, attractive discounts at the ready.
An On-Demand Hui ā-Tau version of the fully virtual event was available afterwards.
